Bruce Long - Coaching - Art - Photography
At the moment I am working on two main series requiring models. Of course, there is nothing more enjoyable and creative than getting together with someone without any definite plan, and discovering what images come out of it. Even if you aren’t feeling mythic, please be in touch!
In the meantime, I am looking at themes of mythology, masculinity and the qualities of a classical hero. In the series Apotheosis (the artistic style of presenting humans as gods), I am trying to represent the quality or identifiable features of the mythical gods and heroes, as simply as possible. Photographic line drawings if you like.
Zeus
Perseus
Orpheus
Theseus
Jason
With my series Muses, I am planning a series of nine sets of nine images, featuring nine models. I am representing these mythical creatures of inspiration in masculine form, and exploring in how many ways they can be concealed and revealed. This project is still in progress, so if you would like to a’muse me, then let's make some plans.

I like to name the year ahead on December 31st. I named 2020 my Year of Hopefulness. My intention was to look at ways to create images of positivity and happiness, even as simply as by concentrating on people smiling! Of course, with bushfires, smoke, terrorist massacres and now the ongoing reality of viral lockdown, no progress has been made. If you have any ideas for collaborations on this theme, I’d love to hear them. Perhaps my hopefulness theme is more apt than it often feels at the moment, as we are living in hope that 2021 will be a year of productivity and collaborative creativity!
Indeed, I was happy to find a way to start representing these ideas artistically via my Isomash lockdown project. Several generous models from around the world, provided self portraits that I could then use to make montage images. Each image has the model, a layer of architectural structure (representing isolation) and a botanical layer (representing growth and rejuvenation). If anyone else would like to be part of it, please contact me, I have enjoyed chatting with my collaborators as much as creating art with them.
